We enjoyed watching the 4 tiny fish we added to our pond on Saturday. Thursday evening, while stretching the feeder pole to their rocks I saw a red-capped oranda out of the water in the mouth of a ribbon snake, which was half-way still in the water in a coil. I slipped my pole thru the coil, and yanked it out of the water. The snake hit the grass and the fish hit the patio. I put it back in the pond. The next morning I saw another ribbon snake with the same fish in its mouth, crawling in the rocks above the pond. I hit the snake, it dropped the fish, which is now living happily until bigger, in an aquarium.
